The Canada Day event takes place at William Scott Park at 75 Hunter Street in New Hamburg.
Sunrise Ceremony
The day begins with a traditional Indigenous Sunrise Ceremony at 7 a.m. at the boat launch. It will be led by an Elder from Crow Shield Lodge along with a Firekeeper.
Signs that include all 94 Calls to Action will lead to the site. Woman may wear long skirts if they wish. People can stand in a Ceremonial Circle or bring a lawn chair to sit.
Official Ceremony
The official opening ceremony takes place at 11 a.m. It will feature O Canada sung by Joanna Guistini-Wilkinson and Danielle Guistini-Crouse as well as performances by the New Hamburg Legion Colour Party and the New Hamburg Concert Band.
The Township of Wilmot's Mayor and Councillors will welcome everyone, including Wilmot's federal and provincial government representatives who will bring greetings. The official ceremony is followed by members of Council serving free Canada Day cake.
Fun for Everyone
The event includes community groups; bouncy castles; potato sack races; face-painting; egg-and-spoon race; scavenger hunt; three-legged races; bubble-making; an activity table; and a dunk tank.
Waterwheel Event
The New Hamburg Board of Trade will take to the stage at the Waterwheel to bring greetings at 12:30 p.m.

There is limited parking in William Scott Park on Canada Day, July 1. Parking is available for those with an accessible parking permit. Parking is available at the boat launch for participants at the Sunrise Ceremony only.
