Council and committee meetings impacted by ongoing weather; snow lifts planned
The Township of Wilmot is ending its Significant Weather and Snow Events, effective immediately. Crews worked through the weekend to ensure all Township roads were plowed, clearing an extremely high volume of snow in a short period of time.
Declaring the end of the Significant Weather Event does not mean roads and sidewalks are in good usable condition. It only means that the weather has subsided enough that regular maintenance timelines can be met.
The Township thanks residents for their cooperation during the Significant Weather and Snow Events. Members of the public should continue to use caution when traveling on local roads and sidewalks and avoid parking on the street between 2:30 and 6:00 a.m. to comply with the overnight winter parking ban.
Changes to Council and Committee Meetings
The ongoing weather conditions are affecting Council and committee meetings planned for February 18, 2025.
The Wilmot Canada Day Task Force meeting has been cancelled. A revised date will be provided when available.
The Special Council Meeting will be moved to a virtual format. A link to the livestream of the meeting is available in the Council agenda. A recording of the meeting will be posted to the Township’s YouTube channel after the meeting has ended.
Snow Lifts Planned
The Region of Waterloo is planning a snow lift operation to remove the excess snow that has accumulated in parts of Wilmot Township.
Snow removal will take place from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in New Hamburg on February 19 and in Baden on February 20. Residents are asked to avoid street parking in these areas while the snow lift is completed.
The Township will also be completing snow lift activities this week in various priority locations in both urban and rural areas.
