Is your child ready for camp? |
To support your child's enjoyment and safety at camp, as well as the enjoyment and safety of the other campers, it is important to ensure your child is "camp ready." To help determine this, we have put together a checklist as guidance.
Please remember that campers must be 5 years of age by the end of the calendar year to register for summer camps. Participants who are attending a program and not demonstrating that they are ‘camp ready’ may be withdrawn from the camp at the sole discretion of the Supervisor of Recreation Programming. |
Summer Camp Information Form |
Please complete the Online WRC Summer Camp Information Form after your registration is confirmed with payment. By completing this form it DOES NOT confirm your spot in camp. Forms need to be completed by July 1, 2024.
If you are looking to register please use the links above for the specific courses, or browse through them on RecWeb. |
Feedback |
We welcome feedback for our summer camps. Please fill out the Online WRC Summer Camp Feedback Form or email the Recreation Supervisor |
What to bring to camp |
We ask each camper to bring a Nut free lunch including snacks and a refillable water bottle. Please bring appropriate running shoes and clothing as well as a swim suit and towel as campers will have the opportunity to swim and will be playing outdoors throughout the week.
Please note that we do not allow any electronic devices of any kind at camp. |
Rules and expectations |
Our goal is to keep every child safe and to ensure that they have an enjoyable camp experience. While at camp, it is expected that campers will act in an appropriate manner at all times. To aid in this positive behaviour we have outlined four camp rules that must be followed.
Zero Tolerance Policy:There will be no hitting, kicking, shoving, spitting, stealing, or damage of another person or their property while at camp. If this occurs, parents will be contacted immediately and the child will not be welcomed back at camp after their first incident at the parents expense. No refunds will be issued. |
Support at camp |
The Township of Wilmot aims to integrate all campers into our camp programs. To help us best support your camper’s experience at camp, we ask that any additional needs be disclosed during registration. Feel free to reach out to the Supervisor of Recreation Programming at any time. A summer camp staff member will reach out after registration to discuss how we can best integrate your camper into our group programming.
Please note that we are unable to provide one to one support for campers with additional needs. However, we welcome volunteers or support workers provided by the family in this capacity. Volunteers or support workers must be 16 years or older and complete additional forms provided by the Supervisor of Recreation Programming. |
Swimming during camp |
Swimming at camp happens Tuesday and Thursday afternoons weekly. Please list your camper as Beginner, Intermediate or Strong Swimmer during the registration process. Campers are divided into three different groups based on their swimming abilities. Please note that groups are made up of the registered campers, which may result in your camper being in a different group each week they are at camp with us. Swimming ratios are minimum 1 Instructor/Lifeguard and 1 Camp Staff to 10 swimmers. If volunteers are present during your child's week of camp, they are placed with the lowest group and then spread out from there. Please note that both beginner Intermediate level swimmers will spend their pool time entirely in Personal floatation devices (i.e. a life jacket). |
Camper drop off & pick up |
Regular camp drop-off times are 8:50-9:00am and pick-up is 4:00pm. We do require campers to be signed in AND out. If you are unable to make these drop-off and pick-up times, please ensure that you are registered in the extended care camp which has drop-off starting at 8:15am, and pick-up until 5:00pm.
All campers must be dropped off and picked up by people authorized by their primary contact. In an effort to ensure the safety of your child, you or whoever is picking up the child may be asked to show a picture I.D. Please make sure to inform the individual picking up your child of this policy to avoid any confusion or frustration at the time of pick-up.
In the event of an emergency and there is an additional person doing a pick-up, written notice to the Supervisor of Recreation Programming is required.
Please note that we have a late fee of $5.00 per camper for every 15 minutes past the required pick up time; that will be required to be paid at Customer Service the day of. ie. If you are 15 minutes late for 2 campers, that is a total of $10.00 |
Camp refund policy |
If fewer than 12 children are enrolled in a camp session, a full refund will be given. If a refund is requested a 20% Refund Administration Fee will be applied (up to $40.00). Refunds are not permitted within 5 days of the day camp starting unless there is an extenuating circumstance which will be decided upon by the Supervisor of Recreation Programming. Please note: If you completed enrollment online, the processing fee amount is non-refundable. |
Youth volunteers play an important role in ensuring the success of our day camps. Volunteers support camp leaders with playing games, helping with crafts and instructing activities during camp. They are given the opportunity to create an activity plan and lead one activity during the week with the assistance of the camp leaders. This is also a great way for high school students to get their mandatory community service hours completed during one week of camp.
Please note: Youth Volunteers are required to purchase a camp t-shirt and participate in SafeGuard training on Friday June 28, 2024 at their own cost.
Applications close Saturday June 1, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.
