The Province of Ontario has passed various Acts to improve accessibility for all residents of Ontario, the Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The Township of Wilmot and all municipalities across Ontario must follow these Acts.
To help Ontarians achieve barrier free access to Wilmot we have certain practices and policies in place.
- The Wilmot Recreation Complex has a PAL Card program in place.
- The Township is a member municipality of the Grand River Accessibility Advisory Committee.
- There are many Inclusive and Support Services in the community to assist residents with special needs.
- If you require any documents produced by the Township in an alternate format, please contact Legislative Services Division.
- Wilmot has a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2021-2025 for your review.
- All staff are trained on an Accessible Customer Service Policy.
- Purchases and the hiring of contractors must consider accessibility as stated in the Procurement By-law.
- Accommodations are provided during the hiring process and during work for staff when needed.
