Wilmot's Youth Action Council (Y.A.C.) is a group of local youth volunteers (ages 14- 19) who offer other youth a chance to be involved in the community, to create and support the youth voice. Youth will learn and develop leadership skills and provide input into the programs offered to them.

Wilmot's Youth Action Council is open to all youth within the community, and is committed to finding out their needs and interests. Through the actions of the group, youth will be provided with the opportunity to become involved in activities and events throughout the community.
YAC Meetings are held from September 23, 2024 until June 2, 2024 on Monday evenings bi-weekly from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. using a Hybrid Model of in person and using Zoom. The group does not meet on holidays, or if the Wilmot Recreation Complex is closed.

Are you a youth or young adult (19+) wanting to volunteer with a group of enthusiastic youth? Being a Youth Ally allows you to be apart of Weekly YAC meetings; providing leadership and mentorship to youth participants; supervise Youth planned and implemented events between September and June; and lastly, helping to amplify the youth voice in Wilmot.

YAC offers events in November, February and May. Events are run entirely by the YAC members from start to finish, from booking the space, to material lists to the cleanup, it’s all about the youth power! Through providing our youth the opportunity to learn and develop their transferable skills, we are investing in our leaders of tomorrow.

Annual Pancake Fundraiser in March a Success |
Thanks to all the volunteers and attendees who joined the Youth Action Council on March 4 for the Third annual Pancake Fundraiser.
This event offered juice, pancakes and all the toppings to make a masterpiece on a plate. A big thank you to the 2024 Sponsors:Baden Coffee and the New Hamburg Optimist Club. See you next year for more awesome pancakes. |

Wednesday, May 1 - SWRIL Gameshow Night |
Youth Grades 4 through 12 can join the Youth Action Council as we present the Smart Waterloo Region Innovation Lab as they deliver the SWRIL Showdown: Battle of the Youth! Bring your friends and compete in friendly challenges, eat snacks and drinks. There's also a chance to win over $150 of prizes!

Thursday, May 2 - Youth Bowling Night at New Hamburg Lanes |
Youth Grades 4 through 12 can join us for a two-hour timeslot of bowling with your friends at the New Hamburg Lanes! Up to 6 players per lane can bowl. First-come, first-served for spaces through the registration link below. Each player must register individually. There are 36 spaces total.

Saturday, May 4 - Star Wars Movie at New Hamburg Library |
Youth Grades 4 through 12 are invited to join us, and encouraged to dress up, to celebrate Star Wars' day for a youth-friendly movie - the Force Awakens - at the New Hamburg Library. There is also a take-home craft. Concession-style snacks will be available for purchase on site. Cash only. Twenty spaces are available. Please register with the link below. Sunday, May 5 - Family Dance Party |
Calling All families and all ages! Join us at the St. Agatha Community Centre for an afternoon of moving and grooving to the music with an indoor cardio dance party. We are excited to host Movement Instructor Liliana to lead us through dancing to the beat.

Monday, May 6 - Video Game Night in the Youth Centre |
Youth Grades 4 through 12 can join us in the Youth Centre during the HIVE program between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. for friendly competition and prizes.
