The Township of Wilmot is located within the Grand River Source Protection area, and as such, is subject to the Grand River Source Protection Area's Assessment Report. The assessment Report identifies those septic systems which are potential threats to municipal drinking water supplies if the systems are not functioning properly. Once identified as a potential threat by an assessment Report, the Ontario Building Code requires that the septic system be inspected within 5 years of the assessment Report and every 5 years thereafter.
