The Wilmot Fire Department provides Public Fire and Life Safety Education and distributes fire safety information aimed at changing human behavior with the goal to prevent fires and, if they should occur, to ensure citizens react appropriately. We accomplish this through a variety of public education initiatives such as a smoke alarm program with home escape planning and the distribution of fire safety education material to residents and occupants.
Public Education Initiatives are established based on the risk profile and priorities set within the Fire Master Plan. These are identified as:
- Children (School Static Displays)
- Seniors (Seniors homes providing fire safety presentations)
- All residents (annual open house, newspaper ads, holiday fire safety tips, station tours and smoke alarm program)
