Billboard signs |
In addition to the initial building permit, billboard signs are licensed annually by the Township of Wilmot and are the only signs permitted to advertise business activities not occurring on the same property that the sign is located. The annual license fee is $275 per sign face. For more information on billboard sign licenses, please contact the Planning division and refer to the Township Sign By-law. |
Portable signs |
Portable signs do not require a building permit, but do require a portable sign permit. Portable signs are permitted on commercial, industrial, and institutional properties. Two permits may be issued per calendar year per property (regardless of number of businesses on a property). A permit is $115 and is valid for up to ninety days. To obtain a portable sign permit, please apply online using our Portable Sign application and payment form. You will be required to provide the following:

Signs along Highway 7/8 |
If you are planning to erect or alter a sign or advertising device on a property within 400m of Highway 7/8, you may require a permit from the Ministry of Transportation prior to issuance of a permit by the Township of Wilmot. For further information and regulations on signs please refer to the Township Sign By-law. |
